Dr. Nasser Kashou has taught up to eight different courses, excluding senior design (capstone project). He has been nominated for the excellence in teaching award twice and awarded once. Students are continuously seeking Dr. Nasser Kashou out as an instructor and as a faculty advisor/mentor. He has been awarded the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology (EMB) Outstanding Contributions in the Society’s area of Education. Additionally, Dr. Nasser Kashou has participated in a flipped classroom workshop. He has also taught x-ray imaging and radiation courses to certify radiology technologists in the region from several states.
Dr. Nasser Kashou has implemented multiple modes of instruction and technologies:
- Flipped classroom, Blended/hybrid, Online, Video recording & captioning, Sympodium, Tegrity lecture capture, Whiteboard, & more
Utilizing Sympodium allows him to write notes on the computer screen with voice recording. Using technology and diversifying how he presents material keeps the students engaged. Also, making sure the students leave the class with a better appreciation for the topic is key and Dr. Nasser Kashou typically achieves this by sharing real world clinical applications. He enjoys teaching at the same time he likes to challenge his students so that they can reach their true potential.
In regards to teaching Dr. Nasser Kashou is well versed in neuroscience, vision science, computer, electrical, and biomedical engineering curriculums and can readily adapt to teaching a variety of courses.
